It Came From Reddit – Edition 1

In my previous post I mentioned that I’ve been spending a lot of time of Reddit. Well, I want to share that time with you now. This post is my way of sharing. In “It Came From Reddit” I bring you interesting tidbits from the different corners of Reddit. This first edition is a test run, so it may or may not become a regular feature. You know how inconsistent I can be.

A Horrible Time for Geeks (/r/whedon)

There’s only one man with a PhD in horribleness. That’s right, Dr. Horrible.  You might remember me mentioning him as one of my favorite fictional characters. If you’re as big a fan as I am, then you’ll be happy to know that the doctor should be showing his face again soon. Joss Whedon, the creator of Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog, has been quoted saying, “We do have a number of songs written. We have a whole outline.” If you haven’t seen Dr. Horrible’s debut movie, then I suggest you shake a leg. The characters are hilarious, the song are brilliant, and the end will have you holding back tears. You can find the entire movie on YouTube (Whedon approved), iTunes, and Blu-ray.

Perseverance turns to Anger (/r/todayilearned)

We’ve all heard the saying: “If at first you don’t succeed…” But how many of us actually try, try again? I know of someone who did, and it payed off big for them. Rovio Mobile, creators of the multi-million dollar Angry Birds, developed 51 less-successful games before they hit gold. I’m pretty sure many other success stories have a very similar tune. To borrow from a meme: One does not simply become a millionaire on the first try.

You Otter See This (/r/videos)

When I get my own house, I want to have some odd pairing of animal best friends.

An Infinite Dream (/r/gaming)

If you’re a gamer, you’ve probably seen the Bioshock Infinite trailer. If you have a soul, you’ve probably seen Inception. But you may not have seen this yet. Prepare to be amazed (mute the left video)!

Keyboard Cats (/r/aww)

The sheer concentration of cat lovers on Reddit is overwhelming. I used to be a whole-hearted dog person; cats were the evil balls of fur that plotted your untimely demise. I still feel this way, but heck if they aren’t the cutest murder-plotters I’ve ever seen. Thank you for opening my eyes, Reddit.

See you next week  in Edition 2 (hopefully)!
